POSITION TITLE: Microcomputer Support Specialist

Position Summary

Provides technical support for computer operating systems, software, hardware and basic networking for end-users.


FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Essential Functions

  • Provides end-user support; advises and trains users on computer applications/software.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves operating problems for computer hardware and software, networks, and peripheral equipment including printers, modems and others.
  • Installs and configures new hardware and software. Assembles and disassembles components.
  • Evaluates new hardware and software and recommends implementation.
  • Documents service calls.
  • Consults with supervisory personnel, vendor specialists and consultants to resolve or refer difficult problems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.

Experience: 

  • Two or more years of hands-on experience in a Microsoft Windows environment.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems
  • Knowledge of PC hardware and software
  • Knowledge of printers and scanner printers
  • Must have great communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently individually or in a team environment

Working Environment:

  • Normal office environment with attending outside functions when required.

PHYSICAL/VISUAL ACTIVITIES OR DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, reach, grasp, talk, and hear.

This position requires clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and the ability to bring objects into sharp focus, while reading from a computer screen.

The job has light physical demand (primarily sedentary) requiring the employee to exert negligible force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects in the normal course of routine office activities.
